The Algarve

The Next Evolution In The Active Lifestyle Experience At Encanterra

Set on a 2.5 acre, view-laden parcel in the Southwestern portion of the community, The Algarve is the newest extension of the La Casa experience at Encanterra. The Algarve is an 8,000 square foot club complete with a resort pool, artisan studio, expansive open lawns including an indoor and outdoor concert area, eight pickleball courts, bocce ball, and Tapas, our poolside dining concept.

About The Name

The Algarve is a region in southwestern Portugal first introduced to the world through the 1974 novel The Drifters by Pulitzer Prize winning author James Michener. A quintessential coming of age tale and travel story that was required reading for an entire generation; the story brilliantly showcases the Bohemian roots and artistic culture of one of Europe’s most iconic destinations. Most famous now for its handmade pottery and seaside resorts, The Algarve represents a place of escape and creative inspiration. This same spirit of creativity and relaxation is embodied in The Algarve at Encanterra Country Club. One part arts studio, one part poolside resort, and one part outdoor recreation, it is the perfect complement to the dramatic La Casa at the center of the community.

Let's explore some of the exciting areas of The Algarve Club:

Santorini's Studio

Santorini's Studio is an allusion to the famous Greek port city of Santorini. The space is complete with concrete floors, full-size glass garage doors which let in light year round and open for those amazing winter months; exposed interior lighting and beams; and vistas out onto the main promenade, La Plaza. It also includes a kiln for pottery and clay work. Santorini's Studio is designed to let our Members express their creative energy and dreams in a way they haven't been able to in the past. The perfect retreat for artists.

TAPAS

More than just a place for poolside snacks, Tapas is a whole new dining option for Members. A complete selection of beers and wine are on tap, as well as the soon-to-be-infamous blended cocktails capable of turning any warm day in the sun into a free-for-all of fun (or a chaise lounge nap). Tapas also features three 65 inch televisions for all your game day entertainment.

La Plaza

The center of The Algarve outdoor experience is La Plaza, an acre of green space with an event stage, shade and plenty of room to relax and enjoy the Arizona sunshine. Perfect for farmers market, artisan displays or even a late afternoon get together among friends, La Plaza is the center of both the action and the relaxation.

The Portico

The defining architectural characteristic of The Algarve is the outdoor expanse which joins the major portions of the building – Tapas and La Playa to the east and Santorini's Studio to the west. Complete with beautifully-crafted open beams that provide shade and protection from the elements, the Portico is not just an outdoor patio and breezeway, but functions as a town square and trailhead for The Algarve experiences. Within the Portico is an activities screen which display what's happening at both The Algarve and La Casa.

La Playa Resort Pool

People visiting or living in Arizona love to soak up the sun and cool off in a refreshing resort style pool. And with La Playa, options abound whether you're hope is to count laps, cocktails or z's. At approximately 47,000 gallons and more than 2,300 surface square feet, La Playa at The Algarve is an ample addition to the resort pool at La Casa.

Pickleball Courts

No sport since snowboarding has grown more popular, more quickly than pickleball. A game which blends the athleticism of tennis or badminton with a doubles-focused environment that reduces joint and muscle stress, pickleball is a critical part of the culture at Encanterra. The Pickleball Club now has their own space that doesn't need to be shared with tennis and functions as a home base for intracommunity events and tournaments with neighboring communities.

Bocce

The quintessential Italian game finally has a permanent home at Encanterra. Two pitches of tightly-packed sand are available for play year round, with equipment available to borrow from either the concierge at La Casa or the team from Tapas. While at Tapas, players are encouraged to grab an Object Ball, our take on a blended White Russian served in a to-go cup that is the perfect aiming fluid for a game among friends.
